Development Specialist

Matt brings a diverse background spanning housing development, construction, technology, and finance. At Montage, he works as a Development Specialist, guiding projects through the full development lifecycle from acquisition and feasibility through design, approvals, and project delivery. Matt is an aspiring ‘Master Developer’, driven by curiosity and a vision of building well designed and resilient communities. Matt believes in working hard and playing harder. When not on site or behind a spreadsheet, he enjoys adventuring and pushing his limits, whether that’s mountain biking, distance running, bikepacking, or ski touring. Ask him about his latest adventure – he’ll have a story ready.  

Avia Huang, Bcom

Operations Manager

Avia is an experienced operations professional with over 10 years of experience across the health, education, and hospitality sectors, including both start-ups and publicly listed companies. Having worked in both Canada and China, she brings an international perspective to operational management and team coordination. As Operations Manager at Montage Development, Avia helps ensure the firm’s daily operations, HR, finance, and administrative systems run smoothly while supporting project delivery and executive initiatives. With a background in finance and executive management, she brings structure, clarity, and thoughtful organization to every aspect of her work. Outside of the office, Avia enjoys exploring Vancouver’s food scene, traveling to new places, finding inspiration in creative ideas, and spending time in nature with her family. She is also passionate about giving back to the community through volunteer work that supports women and children. 

Alan Chau

Accounting Specialist

Alan is the lead Accounting Specialist at Montage Development Consultants and a solution seeker, with 10+ years of experience in accounting. He started out at the Canada Revenue Agency reviewing tax returns, and moved into bookkeeping and accounting for a variety of businesses and companies such as Greystone Books. Outside of work, Alan enjoys exploring new foods, staying active through sports, and engaging in deep conversations—and has a few unique life experiences, including overcoming fractures and even going blind for half a year. 

Paul Cho, CPA

Finance Specialist

Paul is a CPA specializing in real estate development finance and affordable housing, helping organizations navigate complex projects with clarity and strategy. Paul enjoys exploring new coffee shops with his wife Esther, keeping up with his energetic son, Noel, and spending time with friends and family. 

Michael Kong, BCom

Development Analyst

Michael has over 5 years experience in the development sector, contributing to more than 20 development projects ranging from townhouses to 50 storey high-rises. Since joining Montage, he has discovered a passion for affordable housing finance, advancing over $300M in current CMHC applications, and working on innovative approaches to unlock socially impactful, affordable housing. Outside of work, Michael likes to stay active, spending his time golfing, playing hockey, tennis, cycling, and hiking, and he is known in the office as a master chef. 

David Roddan

Director of Special Projects

David is our lead preconstuction specialist, with more than thirty years at a senior level leading major complex projects with multiple project delivery components. Known for skilled business planning, preconstruction delivery, contract management, financial management, and negotiations, David is personable and a collaborative team leader motivating large teams in the implementation of complex projects. David possesses a high level of integrity and accountability, taking ownership of project outcomes and team performance, and outside of work he is known as a champion of the pickleball court in summer and skihills in winter. 

Herb Foth, C.E.T.,MCPM,UNBOHS

Construction Specialist

Herb is a veteran Construction Specialist responsible for general contractor execution and project monitoring. Having over forty years in the construction industry, Herb has built a career defined by innovation, integrity, and results. His background spans residential, commercial, and industrial projects. During his spare time, Herb is passionate about travelling and road cycling, but gets most joy out of spending time with his 7 grandchildren. 

Carter Calhoun, B.A., RSE

Director of Preconstruction

Carter is an experienced construction and development professional with nearly two decades in the building sector, having run his own consulting firm which specialized in rescuing stalled projects and guiding clients through complex projects with clarity and precision. He currently serves as Director of Preconstruction at Montage, leading complex multi-family retrofits and owner-representation projects across the province. As a dad of four energetic boys, Carter juggles life’s chaos with love— restoring his old farmhouse piece by piece while finding connection and strategy around his carefully curated board game collection. 

Jonathan Robbins BA, B.Sc., LEED®AP

Executive Director

Jonathan brings over 20 years of expertise in project development, management, and construction across residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors, with more than $800M in projects delivered to date. His career has taken him through Canada, the U.S., and Europe, where he has earned recognition for leading multidisciplinary teams, cultivating strong client relationships, and consistently delivering value through strategic planning, sustainable design, and precise execution. Outside of his professional work and board leadership commitments, he enjoys playing golf, soccer, hiking, and spending time outdoors with his wife and three children. 

Rupert Campbell, MCRP

Principal, Planning & Development

Rupert has over 15 years of experience in urban planning, sustainability, 普通话, and real estate development. His background includes managing development projects from visioning to completion, encompassing feasibility analysis, acquisitions negotiation, financial modelling, conceptual design, due diligence, and project structuring, all the way through design development, team management, financing, and construction to final deficiencies and handover. As a trained urban planner, his approach brings together public and private perspectives to city building, with a strong working relationship with Planning Departments, funding agencies, and consultants. Hailing from New Zealand, Rupert brings a unique creativity and jovial cynicism to the team, as well as a bizarre passion for long-fin eels, boxing, and tabletop wargaming.
